Content management systems can be very tricky to use if you aren't the most technically gifted, sometimes you can be pretty sharp and still get stuck using even the most basic features they offer. Portal CMS is designed from the ground up to be easy to use.
One of the hardest parts of managing a CMS is getting the navigation structure just right and flexible; but not confusing. For example if you want to show certain content to some people but not others it can be a nightmare to get to grips with. So we have designed our Menu Management tools to be dead easy to use. Check out the video below to see for yourself.
We will be baking the features described in this post into the next version of Portal (1.1) which should be coming out in a week or two.
In version 1.1 you can edit the menu's in Portal CMS from any page on the site as you can see in the demonstration video below. There are helpers to make them both look good and for you to find the right content to link to.
As you can see, you don't need to know the "secret url" to get into your CMS's backend, then the sequence of clicks you need to follow to expose the tools to edit menus, nor the nightmare of figuring out what to do when you get there. You simply click on the menu from any page and start editing.
If you are adding a new Menu Item; a link to another part of your website, we have added some really useful tools to offer "one click" setup of a link. You can also use another great tool to select just the right icon - from Font Awesome's full icon catalogue.
If all of that isn't enough, you can go down to the granularity of setting which users can see which individual menu link. You would think this would be very hard to use, why not try it out on our demo website now and see how easy it really is!
